the blind colt

i thought this book was really good... i was so touched by it i kinda wanted to start to cry... i thought that the colt wasnt going to get away from the wolves but he did anyway because he let the boy help him.. and like i would recomend this book to this book to anyone that loves horses as much as i do and personally i didnt think that the colt was going to live on its own but he grew up into a strong assertive stallion!!!

Lovely horse story

I was deeply touched by the story and struggles of the little blind colt. The writing is so descriptive. Its almost like you are hearing the colt's thoughts and witnessing his experiences first hand. Reading the authors notes at the end of the book, I find out that this story is at least somewhat based on a real little blind colt that the author knew of back in the early 1900's. That makes this story even more touching and enduring to me. Some younger readers might be upset by a few scenes in the book, but I'd recommend it to slightly older readers or anyone who loves to read about horses.

What's so special about a pair of pants? These aren't just any pants. These are the magic pants that amazingly fit Tibby, Lena, Carmen, and Bridget. And now, these pants will keep these four friends together when they go off to another exiting summer. Carmen's mom gets a new boyfriend. Carmen doesn't like this relationship very much, but when the new couple's relationship gets torn apart, Carmen is determined to fix it. Tibby goes to college and meets some new friends. but are these friends really friends? Bridget finds a letter from her Grandmother from a long time ago asking her to come visit her. So Bridget goes to her Grandmother's house and pretends to be a servant so she can find some information about her mother who she lost when she was a child. But what she found was something she couldn't even begin to imagine. Lena finds someone from last summer, and after missing him for months she finds out the horrible truth that left her in a sad shock for a long time. Now these friends will have to help each other through this summer with the help of a pair of magic pants. If you have read the first book I recommend you read The Second Summer of the Sisterhood by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

An oldie but goodie

I have owned this book for more than 30 years now. It is one of those that I packed and repack through more than 16 moves. My children and my riding students have all read it and enjoyed it. The horses and horsemanship are realistic and true to life. The story is about try and heart and commitment.
