Not just for kids!

"This book is delightful, and I have given it to a number of parents for their children. I am both a writer and photographer and believe the co-authors have done an excellent job with the book's text, photos and message. I was especially pleased and surprised when I showed it to a woman who suffers from Alzheimer's Disease. Both she and the staff at the Alzheimer's care center loved the book, and now The Blessings of Feelings is on the shelves of the center's library."

Sweet and important!

If it was only about the pictures, I'd love this book; the children just make you want to cuddle. But the emotions in and behind the faces make this book so much more. Many of us grew up believing some emotions were just plain wrong. To be able to share with our children and grandchildren, that all emotions are a natural part of being human and that we can learn healthy ways to deal with all our feelings is a huge lesson for all of us.

The Blessings of Feelings is a lovely book. The concept is fresh; helping children work through feelings is an idea many parents and grandparents will find both appealing and useful. Mary Nilsen's array of photographs of children of various ages whose faces clearly express their changing feelings is excellent. Children will be charmed by the photos and by Erika Nilsen's rhyming text with its contemporary language. Feelings can seem to overpower us. The Blessings of Feelings reassures children that bad feelings can pass away and life can be sunny once again. Janice L. Hatfield
