Bravo! I thoroughly enjoyed "The Blackhawks" on many levels. Beyond the powerful, and intricate, tale of a young gang leader's rise out of poverty, it re-awakened long forgotten memories of those heady days in New York during the cataclysmic Viet Nam era. Obviously, the author and I shared a variety of experiences: from the heart stopping drawing of the draft lottery, to those balmy days milling about the fountain in Central Park. I also danced in Friends Again, shared intimate evenings at L'Oubliette, and enjoyed the laughter of Monday amateur nights at Catch A Rising Star. Places and incidents I hadn't thought about for years flooded back to my consciousness and filled me with youthful remembrances.
