The Black Oar

"The Black Oar" is the true story accompanied by certain imaginative characters of a boy who paddled a canoe and is helped to turn it because he did not know how to do it, and the hero is Hugo Houdson. Developed in his hometown, Bluefields, on the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua. The child remains in the hands of his grandparents and later returns with his parents to Venezuela.
During his life he suffers some disorders that take him to the brink of death; thing that he repeats during his adolescence and in his adult life but always having the phrase that 'the black Houdson' inspired him to strengthen his spirit of life 'sink the oar and push with force'.
Historical facts of slavery are reported both on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Nicaragua.
The main character is Rodolfito, who has suffered both physically and mentally throughout his life due to accidents and illnesses.
