I've read many Catherine Mann's books- this was not her best work. The tale dragged on and on.... It did not hold my interest. The characters' inner dialogs were repetitive. Conrad and Felicity's stance on relationships and the reasons for their hesitancy to pursue a relationship rather than an affair were brought home early in the tale. They were repeated so often as to diminish my interest in the characters. There were aspects of the characters I found interesting. I enjoyed the romantic gestures made by Conrad. I respected Felicity's work ethic and dedication to her career. The book did expand upon the Mikkelson and Steele family members, bringing forward the characters sketched in previous books in the Alaskan Oil Barons series. The reader should commit to the series- the books couldn't stand alone. I felt the conclusion was abrupt and was disappointing.
