The Big Land is a compliation of three short stories by Zane Grey. In this book they are titled Smoke Bellew, Black Gorge, and The Kidnapping of Roseta Uvaldo. These same three stories can be found in another collection of Grey's work titled The Ranger and Other Stories under these titles The Ranger, Canyon Walls, and Avalanche. In either set you will be getting three excellent short works by the Master of Western fiction which were originally published in the Ladies' Home Journal (2) and Country Gentleman. Smoke Bellew deals with a man seeking for a place to begin life anew after having lived a life on the outside of the law. Black Gorge is the story of two brothers who have a falling out over a young woman, but who learn their love for each other is greater. The Kidnapping of Roseta Uvalde is the Ranger story. My advice is: purchase this book if you can't find the original which was published more than 50 years ago in hard back; there is a paperback version also only 20 plus years old; but in whatever edition you can find it buy it, because it is Zane Grey.
