I was tentative about buying this book since there were no reviews and no picture posted, but I was very pleasantly surprised! The whole thing is very concise but covers a lot of ground, the first 50 pages provide a brief art history lesson starting from cave paintings up to the 1950's with lots of pictures, touching on art around the world and focusing on figure drawings. The rest of the book covers drawing techniques and materials, among other things it features an in-depth explanation of how to achieve perspective in cityscapes and landscapes and helpful diagrams of body proportions and anatomy for life drawing. Also, the example drawings are beautiful and Parramon goes into specifics of how to achieve a wide range of effects and which materials will provide those results. There is a lot of information and if you're looking for an in-depth guide to any specific technique or period in art history this may not be a book for you, but if you just want an overview of EVERYTHING you need to know about drawing and its history without having to read an 800 page book, and you like seeing pictures more than reading, you've found a winner.
