The Bicycle

Between two buildings on a college campus leans a bicycle against a red brick wall that holds a mystery so deep that it simultaneously enthralls, debilitates, entertains, and confuses the young man who happens along it one day on a sunny afternoon after leaving class on his way home on an otherwise regular day. While he considers the bike and all that it offers of its splendor to his vision and his senses, he meets many people along the walkway, on that fateful day, who both help and obfuscate his attempts to unpack the many things that he thinks he knows about life and what he wants to know about the bike. The many stories that are spun in the ensuing ordeal during those demanding hours will leave everyone on the walkway that day changed forever, whether they know it that day or years later. Eventually all stories come to an end, and while this is the end of this long story, others will come. But the best part of any story is not what is written down, nor what is thought up by the author, but simply what is not written at all.
