Shelf and handling wear to cover and binding, with general signs of previous use. 1775 Harris edition, 32mo, 2 parts, one volume, 2 engraved title-pages and 14 engraved plates. Original Red morocco binding with central black morocco oval "IHS" onlay to covers, traces of gilt almost completely worn away. Third edition of this exceedingly scarce abridged children's Bible in its original binding, tear to Adam and Eve illustration, previously published in 1771 and 1774. Harris's "Bible in Miniature" was the second thumb Bible in England, preceeded only by the 1727 "Biblia" printed for R. Wilkin. This thumb Bible precedes that published in 1780 by Elizabeth Newbery and is "superior to the frequently worn-out illustrations used by Newbery" (Spielmann). Secure packaging for safe delivery.
