From Angela Kessler, editor and publisher of the premier vampire magazine, Dreams of Decadence, comes an elite selection of prose and poetry as eerie and immortal as the undead themselves. Collected for the first time in one volume, these dark dreams bring to life the irresistible lures and longings of the vampire experience-from the gothic to the modern, the fanciful to the fierce, the icy-veined to the hot-blooded. Includes contributions from award-winning and notable authors, including: Tanith Lee Lawrence Watt-Evans Sharon Lee Brian Stableford Lyda Morehouse and many others
What a terrific collection of stories. I was enthralled from the first story to the last. Several Authors I want to read more of, if they have written more. I am not much on Poetry so much was lost on me, but good to read it anyway. I did find at least one that appealed to me. There were many of the stories that I wanted another chapter or two, they were that engaging. I was sad to put this book down, but happy to have been introduced to so many exciting talent
The Magnificent Pinnacle of Vampire Anthologies!
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 22 years ago
Delicate and intricate as hand woven lace, or a black widow's web, Dreams of Decadence is a work of art. 21 stories and 19 poems expose us to the eternal night of the vampire, but these are not typical Anne Rice vampires or cookie cutter Count Draculas. Every single story gives us some variation on the undead mythos. This anthology contains vampires that are very ancient and some newly born; vampires made by birth, virus, and even bites; vampires that can walk during the day and some that can only come out at night. If you wish only to read about the vampires featured in popular role playing games and television series, or the vampire of the Anne Rice mythos, then look elsewhere. However, if you want a wide variety of thrilling, beautiful, and interesting tales than know that the cost of this book is a small price to pay for this gossamer glimpse into the midnight realm.
