I disagree with the 2019 review, I think this book is a good springboard in teaching children about some possible causes of bullying but most importantly, how to handle it by learning how to defend yourself and yes, sometimes that means being able to physically defend yourself. That doesn't equate to starting fights. If someone can't figure that out by now I sort of pity them. Now I'm usually not a fan of The Berenstain Bears books because quite honestly, I don't like the parents as Papa Bear is usually a child himself and Mama Bear is overly sanctimonious and judgmental. But the cubs are the saving grace. Brother taught Sister a valuable real world lesson that led to a necessary conversation that Mama Bear easily (and foolishly imo) dismissed, thinking things will just work itself out. And things don't always without effort.
