The Royal Society of Canada issues an Explore the Universe Observing Certificate to anyone who observes 55 of 110 objects, all of which can be seen with a pair of binoculars or small telescope. Google it. The certificate program uses this as its reference book and the chart refers to ariticles in the BOG by page number. Together they form an excellent structure for an introduction to astronomy!
