This was the first of Cliff's books to be accepted by Hammer Film Studios to be made into a big-screen horror movie, along with Cliff's other book, The Pike.

Fortunately, and more importantly, the reason it was never made was not a reflection of the book. It was entirely because of the financial challenges Hammer Films suddenly faced, issues so severe that they caused their unexpected and rapid decline.

Today, with the renewed interest in this genre of movies, perhaps we will see it on the big movie screens, as Cliff had once envisioned.
