You Can't Stop Reading This Book!!!

The disclosure of an HIV diagnosis sets the tone for this story. "The Battle Is Not Yours" is the message that unfolds as the story progresses. You will experience a full range of emotions as you journey through the lives of a mother and daughter as they overcome obstacles, explore and awaken in their personal lives and in their relationship with each other. The supporting characters are as colorful as the main characters in the story. They all come to life on the pages of this book and you can't wait to see what they will do next.

A Must Read

The book is great. I couldn't put it down. The characters depict a real life mother daughter relationship and the challenges they go through as they each mature. The book brought back memories of my relationship with my mother. I was compelled to call my mother and tell her I love her and I am sorry for any heartbreak I may have caused her while growing up. I strongly recommend this book, but be prepared to visit old memories.

A must read

Anyone who reads this book will be able to relate to some aspect of it. I only read interesting stories. I could not put this one down. I learned a lot about the African-American culture and about how an epidemic can touch middle class families. The mother -daughter relationship depicted in this story was indescribable (funny, crazy and heart breaking). This was a great book!

OUTSTANDING

This book was so warm and touching. The characters in the story were so true to life, you can easily relate the characters to someone you know. The author bought true to life the of the era of the 70's. At times I laughed, cried and sat on the edge of my seat to find out how the next scene would play out. This book is an excellent read.

A colorful true-to-life story of love and spiritual growth

It has been a while since I read this book and as I looked through it for a passage that I felt was especially compelling I remembered the way I was initially captivated by this story.I originally read it, because it was recommended by a friend but it sparked a passion for reading that I had lost after college. The passage I was searching for is on page sixty. It clearly captured the passion of a relationship between a mother and daughter. There are numerous other passages that truly paint a colorful picture of the life, with well-developed characters, and a sense of hope born through spirituality. I plan to reread it in the near future and let my daughter read it as soon as she reaches puberty.
