The four tales of "The Bangkok Cat" are dedicated to children of all ages. It is an account of modern Thailand as seen through the eyes of Phet, a thoroughly modern Thai cat who faces some of the same problems as his human owners. Problems like the cultural and economic gap between Bangkok and the rural countryside, the problem of how to adjust to the fast-changing global world and, most important of all, the problem of the place of family, religion and tradition in that world. Phet makes the choices he has to make and deals with the consequences of those choices just like his humans do, and in the process he experiences the same ups and downs, joys and sorrows that they do. Like his human owners he lives with one foot in the present and one foot in the past, as well all do regardless of where we live these days. "The Bangkok Cat" tells the story of Phet, his humans, and the other cats and humans he meets up with on his journey around Thailand in words and colorful picutures with a dash of humor and irony.
