Beginning in 1946 and continuing until 1964 countries around the world experienced a surge in the number of births. The result was a generation that would produce change in culture, economy, and politics worldwide. With the end of World War ll, many families celebrated by expanding.
The United States saw an increase in the size of the generation, and a drastic increase in technology along with a country wide reshaping of politics, culture, and economy. From the draft dodgers of the 1960s to the wave of enlistments after the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States,
Babyboomers have had an impact on the United States Armed Forces, politics, Amendments to the constitution, and college enrollments, leading to disengagement with institutions in general.
The number of Babyboomer Veterans will decline steadily due to age, but their influence will continue long after they retire. As the population continues to become more diverse, so will those who provide protection for the freedom we enjoy as Americans.
