By: Chopin, Kate

Differentiated book-It has a historical context with research of the timeEdna Pontellier, married bourgeois and mother of two children, spends summer with her family at a resort. The absence of her husband during the week will encourage her approach to young Robert, with whom she will have a relationship of complicity that will make her wish known. The return to her life in New Orleans, far from returning her to routine, will make her increasingly aware of her situation as a prisoner in society. As a result, Edna will be taking a series of determinations aimed at freeing herself from everything she has not chosen, and disposing of her life and herself regardless of what the rigid codes of her time dictate.
