This book is great, not too wordy with wonderful water color illustrations. The kids enjoy the pictures and can sit still throughout the reading because of the engaging story line. Following the leaves throughout their day reminds us, life is a marathon, pace yourself and you will finish the race.
Enchanting story.

I own a copy of the book and have read it to my three children at home and have read it my older children's kindergarten and first-grade classes. Children love the story and listen to it interestedly and quietly--until they recognize things they've seen in their own neighborhoods, such as the train or a school building, then they burst with enthusiasm to tell their own experiences. We've attended one of the author's speaking engagements at our local library, where there were about 20 children attending and Ms. Desjardins kept them actively engaged with the story and working on group projects. My middle son loves to write and paint and has been very inspired; he proudly calls himself "author and illustrator," too, of the small books he creates at home and at school. And, I must say, Ms. Desjardins' book has led me to notice more of the wonder during what has always been my favorite season.
