The Attempt

I can still remember how I thought I was getting adopted. Ha This was far from that. The gray walls, the bare mattresses...this was more like a prison. I put up a post-it note I found as a decoration, but that only made it seem more sad. The only good thing about the place was that I got to see Lily every once in a while. Lily has been my best friend since we were in the orphanage together; the only person in the world I could trust. I'm convinced everyone else was going to leave me just like my parents did. Who leaves their kid in an orphanage for no reason? Now I don't even know where we are. Some kind of government facility?
