Book Overview

The fate of an Empire is in the hands of thirteen souls who have the power for destruction or creation within them. However, the thirteen are all scattered around the Empire of Quetza, their contribution has to be completely voluntary, and they must be kept alive long enough to be of service. A voluntary service would be fine for any assembly, but the assembly of the thirteen has to have all thirteen or the empire is doomed to a horrible genocide of all non-human races. It all begins with, June, who is hiding in Livermore, California a war-journalist with a secret. On Quetza, we find the second Kara, an Athany Warrior. The third is the slave, left to die, that has the voice to move mountains. The fourth is a healer with a bended back and the hands to bring the dead back from Hades. The fifth is a defender, a smith with a heart of gold. The sixth is a Viscount with hands of stone but also a Prior, in a land with no religion. The seventh are two in one, male and female, twins, separated by the greed of men. The eighth is an assassin of royal blood. The ninth is a warrior, a fighter in training, hidden, deformed. The tenth is a woman being molded to be a leach, destine to finish creation or start destruction. The last three are oppositions; living oxymoron that must choose, but could they make the right choice? Could they all choose to accept their role as part of the thirteen? If this society is to find liberty, freedom and escape the embrace of social genocide, the Thirteen must embrace life, all life. Magic is inside all of them, and time is running out. June is the start, Kara is the catalyst. The others have the magic that will destroy or remake an Empire. In Quetza, thirteen is Lucky number, and it is a necessary one!
