A professor from the University of Florida and his grandson, a student of the University of Stuttgart, climb the Kreuzspitze in the Austrian Alps. They are on special assignment to restore what Neo-Nazis vandalized. Bubbling brooks, majestic firs, green pastures, and blue glaciers grace their ascent. Professor and student, unfettered by academic decorum, deliberate the meaning of life, creation over evolution, God's glory over man's vanity. On their climb they escape the Nazis' ambush only to be trapped in the glacier. Help comes from Pastor Ulrich and his daughter, Kristin, who is fulfilling a vow made on her mother's deathbed. All four have to reach the summit, but lightning, hail, and snow imperil their quest. After a hair-raising climb through a narrow chimney they reach the peak. Will they be able to accomplish their missions? Will the glory of God again be seen atop the Kreuzspitze? During the ascent a spirited conversation ensues between professor, pastor, and students. The glory and the cross are their focus. Is the glory of God all pervasive? Does it have substance? How is it experienced? Is the cross the revelation of God's glory? If your curiosity has been kindled, join the mountaineers and become part of their physical and spiritual adventures.
