The Arrangement of a Poetic Memoir

By Shane C Richards

THE ARRANGEMENT OF A POETIC MEMOIR
finds its foundation in the author's earlier work, the 2010 book entitled THE POET.
While the original context and themes of those poems have been carefully preserved, the author recognised the necessity to dramatically transform the structural composition of the content.
This restructuring allows for a more coherent and meaningful presentation, reflecting the journey and maturation of the author's voice over time.
The poems and verses included in this memoir trace back to the author's earliest days with a pen, beginning as a fifteen-year-old boy serving in the Australian Navy. Now, fifty years later, these pieces remain true to their original form and sentiment. By maintaining the structural integrity of each poem, the author affirms that every work authentically expresses his feelings and thoughts, offering a window into his innermost emotions during the challenging and transformative years of the 1970s and 1980s in Australia.
This collection stands as a rearrangement of the poetic memoir belonging to a young, and at times bewildered, Australian boy. For him, the act of poetically journaling became a vital tool to declutter and quiet the persistent voices and thoughts within his mind. Through these writings, he sought solace and understanding amidst the confusion and turmoil of his formative years.

Perfection is vain man's folly
men who boast of attaining perfection
are foolish
Integrity true man's hope
men who spruik of honour
are liars
Men who allow others to read their deepest thoughts
devoid of fear of judgement
are men worthy of inner peace
