Are we ready?

I liked this book. I have read her father's book, The Fourth Reich, three times already. I just discovered a week ago that MRS Wisen had written two books on the same theme from different perspectives. I'll order Overcomer just as soon as I can fit it into the budget. She has done an excellent job telling the story of Matthew 24 from the perspective of one American church. I've met many real live people like the assorted characters from the church in her book. She's pegged them. I appreciate that she did not waste great detail on hi-tech solutions to minute problems. She wrote a story for families and church families. She obviously loves youth. She speaks with grace and compassion. She does not sugar-coat the effects of sin in the lives of humans. The Bible tells believers to prepare for the Lord's return. How? This book is a good place to begin a conversation. I'd recommend it for gift-giving and for placement in church and public libraries. Give copies to pastors and youth pastors, and ask them what your church should be doing -- just as MRS Wisen's own church family has done. Frankly, I think there are more Americans preparing to go off the grid than there are who are preparing for the last of these last days.

A different sort of Christian fiction, with entertainment value even for secular readers

The Second Coming, the words suggest much of what Christians believe. But could other beings beside Jesus have second comings of their own? "The Appearing" is a tale of Christian fiction telling of a plot of Satan, and a return of one of the biggest murderers in the history of mankind- Adolf Hitler. Emma Hamilton and Adam Reed stand between Earth and the reemergence of this great evil, and they only have their faith in God and Christ to protect them. "The Appearing" is a different sort of Christian fiction, with entertainment value even for secular readers, recommended.

great end of days ale

Not to far in the future Homeland Security establishes the Domestic Investigations Unit to spy on churches and close them down if they break any of the anti-intolerance laws. In Russia, Russian Preident Alexander Magorum has formed the Federation of World Powers and gets the Arabs to let the Jews build a new Temple. He is working towards a a one currency and one religion in his new world order; taking advantage of corruption to bring all nations under his command. At the midpoint of what some call the Great Tribulation, Alexander holds a news conference in his Jerusalem Temple; he reveals himself to be Hitler who was rescued by Lucifer after being in Hell for 666 months. He wants the people who believe in him to wear his mark and those that refuse will die. At Gracee Church, the elders who studied the end of times know the world is entering a period of extreme violence and injustice. They move to caves in the North Carolina Mountains hidden by God's angels so that the authorities cannot kill them. They are all true believers except for one who spies on them; this modern day Judas gives photos and other incriminating evidence to the authorities. Only God can protect them if he sends his son again. With some overall nods to obviously the bible and to the Tom LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins Left Behind saga, this is a fascinating tale of the rise of the Anti-Christ with billions joining him; as few recall what he did in WWII and will again because he has pandemic plans to eradicate non-believers. The Rapture comes at the beginning of the Great Tribulation but differs from Left Behind in several key ways; this refreshes the religious thriller. There is plenty of action and no blatant preaching yet Kristen Wisen makes her beliefs known. Harriet Klausner

An Excellent End Times Novel!

More often than not, when Christians think about the end times they take themselves out of the picture. The tribulation is for those who are "left behind". But suppose it doesn't go that way. Suppose it doesn't go the way you've always been taught. Suppose you find yourself experiencing the beginning of sorrows and the opening of the first 6 seals. Suppose you actually see the the beast rise out of the sea and the abomination of desolation. This novel takes you inside the life of a specific church and inside the heads of different people inside that church. From true believers who go into hiding by faith before it gets really bad, to church people who wait and then must flee for their lives, to members that are deceived, twisting scripture to justify themselves and then, in the end, turning on each other. It is frightening and eye-opening and exciting and thought provoking. A Thumbs up for me!

"The Appearing", the ending truly is our beginning.

In "The Appearing" Kristen weaves throughout its pages an end times timeline based on Scripture that will challenge your preparedness for the return of Christ. I encountered characters I wanted to strangle, cry with, cheer for, hug, and scold. I came across one of the best definitions of faith I've ever heard. Although the characters are fictional, they often find themselves in situations which allow them to make choices as to whether or not they will exercise that faith. Some do with good results as God promises, others don't with disastrous results. There's plenty of humor, adventure, and even a little romance. Best of all, it has an ending that will leave your imagination soaring!
