Before leaving, he suffers a major family setback that follows him to his ship. While serving aboard ship, he meets and falls for an interesting lady affiliated with the local entertainment business in Charleston, South Carolina. He makes friends, ventures off on private and military adventures, tours Europe, and ultimately grows up to make a decision that changes his life. This is a poignant story about a boy with no direction in life, who gains an absolute course to follow into adulthood by mixing with the people he meets and comes to admire.
