We often mostly hear the expression especially from Pentecostals, that "God does not look for our ability but for our availability". This is true a hundred percent. However, it is only when we avail ourselves to Him, that He puts into us His ability to do His work. The impartation of His ability into our lives to do His work is called 'THE ANOINTING'. Personally I have no ability without Him putting it in me and on me. All through the Bible we read about God calling and anointing people to do His work. Aaron and his sons were anointed to the priesthood (Exodus 30:30; Leviticus 8:12). Moses had an anointing of God's Spirit upon him (Numbers 11:17). Joshua had the anointing imparted upon him through the laying on of hands (Deuteronomy 34:9). Saul was anointed to be king (1Samuel 10:1). In the Bible, David too was anointed to be king (1 Samuel 16:13) and Jesus though He is God in the flesh was anointed as a man to manifest His Messiahship (Acts 10:38). The disciples of Jesus performed miracles as they went from village to village. They were moving under a powerful anointing. Peter's mighty anointing at Pentecost resulted in 3,000 souls being saved through a single sermon. Jesus' anointing empowered Him to perform countless miracles. Unction and anointing bring imparted power to perform specific tasks. God's power is required for God's work.
