"The Angel Who Missed Christmas" is the story of an ordinary angel who did not see herself as anyone special. She experienced what we all experience - other's evaluating us, falling into our routines, experiencing disappointments, and forming our self-image. The angel Penelope (called "Penny") is the principal character who had her place in the Heavenly Hosts and Messenger Corps. After the disappointment of missing the very first Christmas, Penny followed the life of Jesus hearing reports and observing him from afar. When Jesus died she was shocked. In addition, she was overwhelmed, but obedient, when God asked her to take on a special mission. This is a great story to teach children that every ordinary person has the extraordinary within them and that God can call on us to do special things in this life. What a great reminder story at Christmas time or anytime!
