In Book 12 the Family enters this chapter in history by serving the realm in the Russo-Swedish War. Polish forces reach Moscow. The Magnates get involved the succession to the Russian throne in supporting the false Prince Dmitry. Alexsi II Andruszkiewicz joins the famed and then later the infamous Alexander Josef Lisowski's Lisowczycy (pronounced Leesov - zhit - ze). The Lisowczycy was notorious fighting company in the northwestern regions of Lithuania fighting the Russians, the Swedes and even the Lithuanian people when they were failed to be paid. Still their work against the Russians saved them from hanging. They were sent to serve the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire to fight his rebellions in the south. In 1610 the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth army defeats the combined Russian-Swedish forces at the Battle of Klushino and conquers Moscow. Josef Lisowski dies suddenly and the company splits in three. One group stays with the emperor, another goes back north to Lithuania. The last group under the command of Lieutenant Alexsi Andruszkiewicz decides to go west to France as 'sell swords'. Some end up joining the Cardinal's Guards and the Musketeers while the remainder of this group went to Amsterdam and would serve as mercenaries in the Scandinavian wars and even in England.
