The aim of this paper is to develop a model on how to motivate volunteers of the Millennial generation to sustain their voluntary work in the same organization for longer than a year. In order to build a solid theoretical understanding of the main research question, the author aims to answer sub-questions, such as what motivates people in general to engage and carry on with volunteering? What are the needs and expectations of Millennials to stay motivated at their workplace? Finally, which organizational factors can keep Millennial volunteers driven for longer than one year?In this research, the focus is on Millennials and volunteering, especially the volunteers of a Hungarian charity organization, Amigos for Children Foundation.Amigos is a recognized Hungarian non-profit initiative helping children suffering from chronic diseases. The team consists of university students who are eager to make the world a better place. They want to ease the pain and brighten the days of children through learning languages and playing. Amigos has made more than 1000 chronically ill, hospitalized children smile during its 5 years of existence, by teaching them languages and simply being friends.
