The book is written on the simple premise that the men who wrote this document (along with the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights, which together are the definitive founding documents of our country and the Rule of Law in America) were highly intelligent and experienced Statesmen who had lived under the yoke of tyranny under King George III.
