A socially anxious ex detective and a forest constable travel to a remote lodge in the Essex countryside in search of the owner who has predicted his own murder.

Unemployed Ex Detective Jasper Knapp receives an invite to The Amber Lodge - a new and mysterious incarnation of The Amber Forest Country Club which burned down two decades before - shorty after a foreign exchange student disappeared.

Still suffering from social anxiety disorder - an ailment that forced him to leave the force - Knapp is accompanied by Forest Constable Ben Copeland, a ranger with a unique role serving the vicinity of Epping Forest. Together they arrive at the lodge to find five strangers locked inside, while the new owner appears to have mysteriously vanished, leaving only a trace of blood behind. But as Knapp and Copeland investigate it becomes clear that, like them, all the guests have been carefully selected. Each one duped into attending. And while nobody is quite who they say they are (Jasper Knapp included), at least one of the so-called guests already thinks they've gotten away with murder.
