The Supernatural Adventures of Katie is a four-part story about a writer called Katie, a young lady whose real-life routines and dreams become inextricably intermingled with her creative writings. In the first part, one of the principal characters of a fairy tale Katie is writing comes to life and knocks on her door. In the second part, Katie unexpectedly comes face to face with some ghosts from the past and the present at an old school house. In the third part, Katie unwittingly takes a bicycle that is not hers and discovers that it has a mind of its own as she discovers a very strange, supernatural world in her local woods. In the fourth part, Katie falls asleep and goes off on a trip into outer space where she meets the visionary entrepreneur and space explorer Sir Elton Dusk. Three of the stories contain her ever-present, adventurous old Aunty Alice, the homely Mrs Bunburry and a mysterious white dove. The complete tale is short, but it is full of the workings of a colourful imagination and equally colourful imagery.
