As the dancing group got larger, I went to take a step back and caught my heal on discarded stone from the bonfire ring. I started to fall back and was caught. I felt a tell tale spark run up my body making goose bumps break out all over my body. I jerked my head up and around to see who I had touched, to see who my mate was. Blue eyes met mine. I gasped. Those eyes went dark and gray turning into his snake eyes.
"Ignacio?" He was my mate? What the fuck? He stood me up and backed away. We just stared at each other. My pup was all wiggly in my head. We'd noticed him, liked him in a way, and now he was our mate it was awesome as far as my pup was concerned. I was a little more hesitant. Sure, he wasn't the complete dick or scary as hell as I originally thought but he was not who I had ever thought of falling in love with. "uh..." I started but had no idea what to say. He just turned and walked away. What the hell?
I watched him head for the omega he'd been watching. They had a brief conversation and then they both left. That was it. Not even going to talk to me about it. Just leaving me here to watch dumbly as my mate leaves. My pup wanted to follow but I felt like that was a bad idea. Obviously, he wasn't too keen on me being his mate so why would I follow him. I kept apart for the rest of the party.
When I was finally dropped off home I fell into bed and dreamed of gray snake eyes.
