The Akula Incident

George Elliot is investigating a series of unusual robberies. 183 Bureau de Change outlets have been robbed on the same night. He finds out that a further 183 outlets were robbed on the same night all across Europe. Two days later, they are all robbed again. Meanwhile, in the dismantling shipyards in Russia, a group of Russian sailors 'steal' one of the submarines, the 'Viper', awaiting the breakers yard. Putting the two incidents together, George follows his hunches and goes to Russia meeting 'Tchai' Riga and together the two start to investigate the disappearing money taken from the Bureau de Changes. Back in Moscow, the three leaders of Russia's armed forces have taken over the Kremlin in a bloodless coup, intending to stop the corruption that has invaded the Politburo.
