The Adventures of Thomas and Leila: The Lost Condor

By Gordon King and Sarah King

When enormous shadows begin gliding across Central Park, the animals of Cloverwide Meadow are certain something mysterious is circling above them.

Mabel Meadowmouse dives for cover. Ruby Rabbit hides in the grass. Percy Pigeon spreads the news in his most dramatic voice. Luckily, Detective Duke is on the case-with Thomas, the brave and enthusiastic black Labrador, and Leila, the calm Russian Blue cat who notices the tiny clues everyone else misses.

As Thomas tries to follow the shadow, Leila studies feathers, flattened grass, and curious marks near the trees. Detective Duke gently interviews the worried park animals and reminds everyone that good detectives listen carefully before deciding what is true.

The Adventures of Thomas and Leila: The Lost Condor is a warm and reassuring mystery adventure for children aged 5 to 8. Perfect for reading aloud or for confident young readers beginning chapter books, this sixth story in the series blends gentle suspense, animal friendship, light humour, and thoughtful problem-solving.
