The Old Man and his wife are going on a trip. Billy, a young neighbor boy, has agreed to watch over the farm. In particular, the garden. All is well until days of rain cause the garden to flood. Billy, does what he can to help the animals, bu finally has to take them all to his house. Luckily the rains stop and the Old Man returns. He replants the garden and all the animals return to find it better than ever. The animals all find a new friend in Billy.
