The Adventures of Sam the Crow

"Sam" was born on the stage - a script titled "A Barnyard Ballet" that the author wrote in 1995 for the dancers at The Crossroads Studio, located at her home in Jones Crossroads, Georgia. The characters were inspired by her students' personalities, voices, and dance movements. Originally published in 2000, it was a collaboration between Avery and two of her cousins: Maggie Grady Fielding, who owned a publishing house in Maryland and Fielding's sister, Angie Lee Talbott, an artist who lived in Florida.
