Nico is 6 years old, and his brother Luca just turned 1. Nico loves to go to the beach. As for Luca, he loves to do anything with his big brother.

Beach Patrol, the first book in the series, finds the boys on an adventure at the beach where they learn the importance of keeping the beach clean and free of litter to protect all the animals that live there and in the oceans of the world.

Growing up on an island (Long Island specifically), Ray Powers has always gravitated towards the water as a source of inspiration as well as a place of solace. Amongst other places, he has lived in Newport Beach, California and currently resides in Florida. The Atlantic and Pacific Oceans as well as the Caribbean Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico have been particularly inspiring. Their power, presence and magnitude humble him as well as enliven his imagination.
