The Hawaiian Islands, 1959
In this adventure, the wind takes Meridian to the Hawaiian Islands where she meets a spunky young girl named Keiki who shows Meridian her homeland. They ride to a volcano, swim in a waterfall, eat Pu Pu and experience life in the paradise of these South Pacific islands. As they make their way to Keiki's island home, they cross the sea in a tiny canoe and are suddenly confronted by giant beasts over 80 feet long! Finally making it to shore, the adventure continues. Meridian sees first-hand what native Hawaiian life is like, and learns the stories of their brave Tahitian ancestors. Then, she and her new friend help prepare for a gigantic celebration where they hula dance to celebrate native island heritage, and light fireworks to celebrate becoming a part of the United States of America - on the very day Hawai'i becomes a state.
