Book 4 is quite an adventure The children meet some of the most fascinating animals normally found in South America. It starts off with plenty of songs and laughter, but at some point, the adventure ramps up. The children are warned to avoid the mysterious Pointer Stream. Concerned animals give the children some interesting clues about a monster. Of course, curiosity is a big part of being an explorer. What happens next is an exciting eruption of mythical creatures that you'll just have to read for yourself.

In the series context, there are 10 children who are on this mysterious left hand Island and they are looking for a home. As they explore different parts of the island they meet different animals. Every time they visit new place they go to a new region of the world. They are now in an area of Left Hand Island that looks a lot like South America, complete with the landscaped and animals found there. As lovely as this place is, there may be a problem they need to face.
