However, throughout the adventure they run into some fantasy and mythical creatures -- some good and some not so good.

In this book - Thumb Peninsula - True North, the children specifically explore the wonders of Canada. They live in a place which is located at the base or palm of the island. There they are met head on with a calamity and are forced to move. This move marks the start of the adventure and they never look back.
