At first glance and at the start of reading, I was very impressed and excited to begin exploring creation of my own game. It didn't take long before I was at the point of needing just a little bit of assistance, and kapow! I hit a major roadblock that seems to be a showstopper for even finishing the book. 1. Finding Content: Even though it has a thorough Table of Contents (ToC), there are no page numbers printed throughout the book! This major flaw makes use of the ToC obsolete. You can begin counting the page numbers on the first printed page (title and author's name) and find the ToC on Page 3. 2. Typing Required: I hate having to type every line of code from snippets, and there is no apparent downloadable resource files or website to refer to. This also means either drawing your own sprites or getting them from somewhere else. There is not even any contact information from the author so that a personal request can be made. 3. Default Installation: The author must have changed his GMS2 layout, because the default for mine is opposite of the descriptions in the book on what should be Page 19. For me, the Asset Browser is on the right side of the IDE and not the left. The Inspector panel is located on the left side of the IDE. 4. Missing Code: I stopped at what should have been marked page 26. The book mentions a script that "we wrote" which is not in the first 26 pages of the book called "scr_MovementLogic". This missing code along with no sprite images to work with marked the end of this reading journey. I did some quite extensive internet searches to no avail. For now, I'm done! I have other guides to learn from without wasting time on this one. Perhaps I will try it again later on, who knows...
