Irish Detective Superintendent Seamus Patton and his wife, Kathleen befriend a young couple that have moved from Belfast to live near their cottage in Ballybane, County Donegal. The young man is a computer wizard and his expertise is needed by Seamus in dealing with the investigation to find the culprit that abandoned a baby. There are many twists as this police case then involves a European principality. This is further restricted when they are side lined by his boss in Dublin. Yet his new friend Andrew rises to the occasion. From Donegal to Derbyshire it becomes obvious that certain people are not truthful. Then they need to return to North Dakota when a family member is seriously injured. They assist the Sioux native police to find serial killers. Upon their return Seamus finds himself in a precarious situation re his position as An Garda Siochana police officer.
