This story is about a small squadron of real people who gave everything that could be given for their country. The Armed Forces newspaper, Stars and Stripes, reported that a USAFSS plane went down due to severe weather west of Kamchatka Peninsula, resulting in the deaths of all aboard in 1956. I returned to America before this flight occurred. It is my personal belief that the plane used for this ill-fated flight, was shot down and am convinced that the demise of this mission was caused by a seemingly innocent series of events. How this tragic event might possibly have occurred is my story. The events and personalities portrayed in my story are composites of events and people I have known and experienced that are well within the limits of realities existing in 1956 in general and in Japan-based USAFSS specifically. These men deserve more than a short newspaper article.
