What a fun read!

This book rocks! When I first picked it up in a book store (under "reference"), I didn't know what to think, what with the odd title. But as I started to flip through it, a bunch of things caught my attention. This wasn't a book about old cars, which you might think from the cover. It covers the entire decade - just about any subject you can name: deaths, scandals, politics, movies, TV, books, fads, commercials, toys, and yes - even cars. I didn't expect to be into the whole book, but once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. The writer comes off as both literate and irreverent. There is a definite tone throughout that seems to delight in deflating pomposity but then turns serious where appropriate. This book is rich with detail; if there is any fault, perhaps it is in sometimes offering more than you want to know. But then, something for everyone, I guess.
