The author is a radio amateur in the Summits On The Air Program (SOTA). He has explained in detail in words and photos his endeavor to summit the milestone of 100 unique summits in the Southern Appalachian Range. In so doing, he became the first radio amateur activator to reach the 1000 summit point milestone in less than a year and with less than 100 summit activations. To reach the 100 unique summit goal, he undertook 108 summit activations - 8 of which were repeated from 2018. For those that want to summit many of the same peaks, the book explains in detail how to get to the trail heads and what pitfalls to avoid. There is a chapter dedicated to gear and equipment recommendations used in activations and another chapter dedicated to the summit activation process.
