For over a decade, readers have turned to John Slatter's classic book for advice on which stocks to pick for maximum return on their investment. Now Slatter again offers his advice and insights on the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I've been buying Slatter's books for the last 6 years running, and I have made money on every stock he picks. It helps if you have a little background of your own on value investing. If you do then this book is a powerful tool for sorting winning, high quality companies out of the S & P. I noticed some people complaining about the book not having information about the crash that happened this year, but it was published in October 2008, which is before that happened, so that's not really fair. You can't ever be certain about the market's future, but choosing high quality companies that have great compound earnings records definitely puts luck on your side. I would recommend this author again and again. Thanks a million, Slats.
Contains Some Quality Companies

I do agree with some of the reviews that some of the information is outdated, but I have to say that Mr. Slatter lists stocks of some very good companies. The problem is that information changes so fast that by the time a new edition of this book is printed, it is outdated. Readers could benefit if Mr. Slatter had updated information available on his website. I've used stock ideas from his book that I made money on. - Mariusz Skonieczny, author of Why Are We So Clueless about the Stock Market? Another great edition

John Slatter has done it again. He has been producing awesome reference books for a number of years now. I personally have the the 2007-2008-2009 editions. His books give an excellent overview of companies and reasons to buy. I continually use them for references, each edition is important because you can see the companies he recommends year after year (hint, hint). Some of the companies he recommends are Buffett stocks as well. There are so many companies within our exchanges that it can be overwhelming when choosing, so Slatter does an excellent job of narrowing the field down. Just with any book you must also conduct your own research and do what fits your investment criteria. These books are definitely worth the money!
