Thank You, Momma Charlie is a heart-warming and humorous chronicle of the kittenhood of orphaned Tarmac, a brown tabby who begins his life in a parking lot under the watchful eye of his feline foster parent "the big gray cat." After weeks of rummaging in a dumpster for food, a woman begins to feed Tarmac and the big gray cat. Eventually Tarmac is taken to live in a home populated with domestic cats. With a little help, he adjusts to his new life and learns to interact in polite and playful ways with his new mentors. Human parents and guardians should be aware that the plot includes the euthanasia of Tarmac's terminally ill feline foster parent. Although the feral cat's death is not the central theme of the story, it may catalyze valuable discussions about pet death in a context that is familiar to many children. The central theme of the story remains focused upon Tarmac's development, his attempts to survive and thrive in the world around him.
