I was impressed! Great read!

This is the 7th book in the Houston series, and Katherine Garbera did a fantastic job continuing the saga. I've read nearly a dozen books by Garbera and she hasn't disappointed me yet! This installment in the series delves into the character of Melinda Perry; a feisty, sharp, loyal philanthropist who polishes the Perry dynasty's reputation. She is a bit of a dreamer, avoids the limelight and is quite different from her siblings. Melinda falls hard for Slade Bartelli, the son of a mob gangster. Slade has done his best to create a respectable reputation by opening himself up to public scrutiny and denying any assertions that he is anything like his father or the Bartelli clan. He is honest, direct, and a savvy businessman running his respectable, wealthy maternal grandmother's business interests. Totally legitimate. His heritage and past experiences with the Bartellis have him denying himself the love and commitment of a relationship; putting aside Melinda and their baby to protect them. The reader is kept in suspense; can Slade overcome his fears and embrace a future with Melinda and their child? More light is shed on the villain behind the romances in the series, and a strong hint is provided as to their identity. A must read! I'm so looking forward to the next book in the series!
