Fast-paced suspense

Welcome back to Silver Star Ranch, TX! Virginia Vaughan has a knack for creating well-written, fast-paced romantic suspense and it's fun to see her weave her stories within a family in this Cowboy Lawmen series. This is book 2 but can be read as a stand-alone since Lawson and Bree from the first book don't enter the plot line. The book starts off with a mad rush to protect Melissa and her son Dylan from a mob boss and his henchman and the action doesn't stop until the very end. Melissa is protective, loving, and tender; her lonely heart finds a home with the Avery family on the Silver Star Ranch. Miles is the stoic and loyal US marshal whose longing for love and a family of his own intensifies as his protection detail of Melissa and Dylan becomes personal. It was so good to reconnect with the Avery family again and I can't wait for the next book in the series!
