On their journey, the trappers encounter Indians, zealots, and a mysterious young man and woman, fleeing to escape their past. As winter's promise of cold and death approaches, the struggle for survival leaves little room for friendship. Can the frail bonds which unite them hold, or will they fray and snap in the cold?
